Attendance
Regular attendance is vital for your child’s academic progress, wellbeing, and social development. The Welsh Government regards 95% attendance per academic year as the minimum expected level. Pupils should only miss school for authorised absences; all other absences will be recorded as unauthorised.
Where attendance or punctuality causes concern, the school may work with the Education Welfare Service (EWS) and, when necessary, Fixed Penalty Notices may be issued in line with local authority guidance. We understand that recent years have brought challenges for families, but it is essential that pupils attend school every day they are well enough to do so. Genuine illness should be reported to the school, and we will work with families to support any longer-term medical needs.
Reporting an Absence
If your child cannot attend school for any reason, you should contact the school immediately. It is only when the school has been informed of any absences can we make a judgement on authorised and unauthorised absences. The school will need to be notified of any absences before school starts at 8:50am.
You can report an absence by: Telephoning: 01685 351806
Please provide your child’s name, class, and reason for absence.
Attendance is monitored daily by Mrs Goodall (Family Liaison Officer), Mrs Pomeroy (Deputy Headteacher)/Ms Kaya (Headteacher).
