Digital Learning at Ysgol y Graig
At Ysgol y Graig, digital learning is used to enhance teaching, develop independence and prepare pupils for an increasingly digital world.
We want children to become confident, capable and responsible users of technology who understand how digital tools can support learning, communication, creativity and problem-solving.
Our approach combines the explicit teaching of digital skills with meaningful opportunities to apply them across the curriculum.
We place a strong emphasis on:
Pupils are taught discrete digital skills and are then encouraged to use these independently in wider learning. Across the school, technology is used to support access to instructions, challenges, resources and feedback.
In our younger classes, pupils use Seesaw and QR codes to access tasks and learning opportunities both indoors and within enhanced provision. In Years 3–6, Google Classroom is used to support organisation, instructions, independent tasks and collaboration.
Digital portfolios also allow pupils to capture learning in different ways, including practical work, images, videos and digital outcomes.
We believe that technology should make learning more accessible and purposeful rather than simply replace traditional approaches. Pupils are therefore encouraged to select appropriate digital tools, explain their choices and use technology in ways that genuinely improve their learning.
Online safety is an essential part of our digital curriculum. Children are taught how to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly, including how to protect personal information, recognise risks and seek help when something does not feel right.
Our aim is for every pupil to leave Ysgol y Graig as a confident, creative and responsible digital learner who can use technology independently and thoughtfully to support learning now and in the future.
