Family Engagement
Why is family engagement important?
At Ysgol y Graig, we know that children do best when school and families work together. Parents and carers know their children best, and by building strong, positive relationships we can support every child’s learning, wellbeing, attendance and confidence.
Good family engagement helps us to share successes, identify concerns early, remove barriers to learning and make sure families feel informed, listened to and involved in school life. It also helps children see that home and school are working together to help them succeed.
What do we do? We aim to make Ysgol y Graig a welcoming and approachable school where families feel part of our community. Throughout the year we provide a range of opportunities for families to become involved, including parent meetings, workshops, coffee mornings, celebration events, curriculum activities, community events and opportunities to share their views.
We regularly communicate with families about learning, attendance, wellbeing and school developments, and we work with parents and carers when additional support may be needed.
We also value the skills, experiences and ideas within our community and look for opportunities for families to contribute to school life and help shape what we do.
Our aim is simple: strong relationships, open communication and a genuine partnership between home and school so that every child belongs, believes and thrives.
