Personalised Assessments
Personalised assessments are statutory in Wales for learners in Years 2 to 9 and are completed online in maintained schools. These assessments are adaptive, meaning the questions adjust to each child’s responses, providing an accurate picture of their current skills to support learning rather than to pass or fail. Schools decide when pupils take the assessments and how and when feedback is shared with parents, which may be immediately or later in the year, such as during parents’ evenings. Parents and carers can view their child’s personalised assessment feedback and progress reports through Hwb, which can be used to discuss progress and next steps in learning.
