Cymraeg at Ysgol y Graig
At Ysgol y Graig, we are proud to be Welsh and proud to use Cymraeg.
We want every child to grow in confidence and become a proud bilingual speaker, using both Welsh and English wherever they can.
The Welsh Government has a big goal called Cymraeg 2050. The aim is for Wales to have one million Welsh speakers by 2050 and for more people to use Welsh every day.
We can all help!
Every Welsh word you learn and every Welsh phrase you use helps Cymraeg to grow.
Each week we share our Welsh Phrase of the Week in Celebration Assembly.
Your challenge is to:
The more we practise, the more confident we become!
Seren yr Wythnos ⭐
During our Seren yr Wythnos Celebration Assembly, we celebrate pupils who have made a special effort to speak Welsh.
Could you become our Welsh Speaker of the Week?
You don't have to speak perfect Welsh. We are looking for children who:
have a go • practise • use Welsh • encourage others • keep trying
Every time you choose to use Cymraeg, you are helping to keep our language strong.
Be Proud. Give it a Go!
Don't worry about making mistakes, learning a language means practising.
Start with a few words.
Try our Phrase of the Week.
Answer in Welsh when you can.
Encourage your friends to speak Welsh too.
Cymraeg belongs to all of us.
At Ysgol y Graig, we want to be:
Proud to be Welsh.
Proud to speak Welsh.
Proud to be bilingual.
Siaradwch Gymraeg!
Speak Welsh, give it a go and help us build a bilingual future.
