What is the Pupil Development Grant (PDG)?
At Ysgol-y-Graig, we believe that every child deserves the best start in life, no matter their background or circumstances. The Pupil Development Grant (PDG) is money our school receives from the Welsh Government to help make sure that children from lower-income families have the same opportunities to learn, grow and succeed as everyone else. We use our PDG funding to: ✅ Provide extra support for learning and wellbeing where it’s needed most ✅ Offer small-group and one-to-one teaching to help pupils make progress ✅ Strengthen links with families and the community through workshops and support ✅ Give children access to enrichment experiences that build confidence and aspiration This funding helps us to remove barriers to learning and ensure that every child can reach their full potential - academically, socially and emotionally. 🎯 Why PDG is Important Poverty should never limit a child’s chances in life. The PDG helps schools focus on two key areas proven to make the biggest difference:

What is School Improvement?
Every year, we take time to look closely at how our school is doing — celebrating what’s going well and identifying what could be even better. From this, we create our School Improvement Plan (SIP). The SIP sets out our main priorities for the year and helps us to: 🌟 Focus on the things that make the biggest difference for pupils 🌟 Improve teaching and learning across the school 🌟 Support staff development and wellbeing 🌟 Strengthen partnerships with families and our local community Our PDG funding and School Improvement Plan work hand-in-hand. They guide our actions, shape our decisions and ensure that every child at Ysgol-y-Graig is happy, supported and achieving their best. |
